(Hyophorbe verschaffeltii) - Bottle
Also known as the Bottle Palm, it is a species of palm native to the island of Mauritius. It stands out for its slender, cylindrical trunk, which tapers at the top, giving it a bottle-like appearance. The leaves of the Bottle Palm are arched and feathery, bright green in color. This species is dioecious; there are male and female specimens. Its fruits are small, green and red when ripe. It is resistant to wind and sun, as well as drought. It is a slow-growing palm that can reach heights of up to 8 meters. The Bottle Palm is appreciated in landscaping for its unique shape and elegant appearance in tropical and subtropical gardens. It grows well in sandy, clayey or calcareous soils. It also adapts to rocky and stony terrain, although this palm itself requires moderate watering.
